The Provincial Coast Service has commenced the demolition of a section of Adelfas Avenue in Campoamor, closed since the 2019 floods at the Nacimiento River’s mouth near La Glea beach. The decision follows heavy rains that left the road unrepaired, amid legal disputes regarding its status on public maritime land. Local efforts by the Town Hall to repair the road have been blocked by Costas, citing legality issues, despite strong local demand for its reopening to vehicular traffic. Currently, only pedestrian access is permitted, forcing detours for vehicles. The local government, formed by PP and Ciudadanos, has appealed to the Higher Court of Justice of the Valencian Community without success so far. Manuel Mestre (Vox), Coastal Councilor, plans to discuss the road’s reopening and address flood concerns in an upcoming meeting with the Provincial Coast Service.
