The Euro-Mediterranean summit, that was going to be held this Friday in Alicante, and that was going to bring together the leaders of nine European countries on the Mediterranean coast, has been postponed because the President of the Spanish Government, Pedro Sánchez, has again tested positive for Covid.

On Thursday morning, Sánchez has undergone a diagnostic test and remains positive for covid-19. Given this circumstance, and as a precaution, the decision has been made to postpone the holding of the summit. A new date for this appointment will be communicated shortly, the government says. The President of the Government maintains his institutional activity electronically and his face-to-face agenda will be reviewed day by day, according to the same sources.

For now, the suspension of the appointment has been a breach in the expectations generated by its development in the hotel sector of the city, since, after knowing its postponement, the cancellations of the numerous reservations that the representatives had arranged have occurred.

In fact, the development of the international meeting had triggered the expected occupancy rates for Thursday and Friday, to the point that several establishments in the capital located in the vicinity of Casa Mediterráneo were practically at 100% capacity.
