The 2022 World Cup will be held in Qatar from November 20 to December 18. These are unusual dates for this type of competition, planned to avoid the extreme heat of that area. Of course, fans around the world who are unable to visit the country in person will want to watch the tournament, so we will explain how to watch the World Cup in Spain on your TV, mobile or online.

Firstly, it’s important to know that the time difference between Spain and Qatar is only two hours (it’s two more hours there, so it won’t be difficult to follow the matches)… the question is, where are you going to watch them?

Watch the World Cup in Qatar on TV

The rights to the Qatar World Cup matches have been bought by Movistar Plus+, although it is RTVE who has the rights to broadcast the matches of the Spanish team.

For this reason, all the matches of the Spanish team can be seen for free on Spanish Television, which will also broadcast the opening match, one match from each of the 8 groups, four of the round of 16, 2 of the quarters, and the two of the semi-finals for free, and the World Cup final.

In total, you will be able to watch 20 World Cup games for free on RTVE, we still don’t know if it will be on La 1 or on the Teledeporte channel yet though.

Spain’s first matches in Qatar 2022:

Matchday 1: Spain-Costa Rica, November 23 at 5:00 p.m., Spanish time.

Matchday 2: Spain-Germany, November 27 at 8:00 p.m., Spanish time.

Matchday 3: Japan-Spain, December 1 at 8:00 p.m., Spanish time.

However, if you want to see all the matches of this World Cup you will have to pay.

At the moment there are two options:

Movistar Plus + and the new app launched by MediaPro called Gol Mundial.

Both Movistar Plus+ and Gol Mundial will broadcast all the World Cup matches: 64 games in total.

In Movistar Plus + they will be broadcast through a new 24-hour broadcast channel, which is the same one that Mediapro has created, Gol Mundial, which will be dedicated exclusively to the tournament and will be available, at no extra cost, for Movistar customers. who have contracted the La Liga package (you can contract it for €30 per month) or All Football (for €43 per month).

If you opt for Gol Mundial through Mediapro you will have to download the new app and subscribe to it after paying €19.99 to be able to watch all the matches.

In addition, there will be broadcasts of specialised content in the World Cup for 24 hours.

Watch the Qatar World Cup on mobile and online

If you prefer to watch the matches from your mobile or online, the options are the same: TVE, Gol Mundial and MovistarPlus+.

  1. To watch the free RTVE matches, you can use their website Rtve.es/play and its official mobile app RTVE Play, available on both Android and iOS from the relevant app stores.
  2. If you prefer Gol Mundial you will have to download the app, which will be available for Samsung, LG and Chromecast televisions.

It can also be used on computers (both Windows and MacOS), for mobile and Tablet, and on Android TV Set top Box.

  1. Movistar+, for its part, will broadcast on the special Gol Mundial channel, which can be seen on Movistarplus.es and from the mobile with the Movistar+ app, again, available for both Android and iOS from the relevant app stores.
