Civil Guard officers in Torrevieja have saved the life of a 51-year-old Spanish man who was in cardiac arrest. It is understood that the man had lost consciousness in his vehicle, which was parked on a central street in Torrevieja.

The man became ill when he was taking his wife to work and called the emergency services. The officers immediately performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation on him and after several attempts, they managed to stabilise his breathing.

He was placed in the recovery position until paramedics and an ambulance arrived at the scene and transferred to the Torrevieja Hospital, where he later underwent surgery.
