As the 2023/2024 school year started on Monday, the regional Ministry of Education has confirmed a total of 802,198 students in the second cycle of Infant, Primary, Secondary, Baccalaureate, Special Education and Vocational Training levels, which represents an increase of 4,030 students compared to last year, and with 81,736 teachers in the classrooms, which represents an increase of 3,077 teachers compared to the previous year.

Educational inclusion and equal opportunities take on special importance for this year, with 33 positions for specialised hearing and language personnel and 79 positions for Special Education educators having been created, an additional allocation “with which it is intended to support the measures of attention to diversity that guarantee inclusive education in the first educational stages,” according to the Ministry.
