Torrevieja town hall is concerned that one of the most emblematic beaches in the town, Playa del Cura, is running out of sand.

Although this has been an historic problem, for which the national Government funded a study to try to find out why a beach that lies on a natural water flow might be losing sand, the recent storms have once again left the rocky underlay exposed.

Antonio Vidal, the Councillor for beaches, hopes that next year the study will be delivered, and the solution determined by coastal authority, which is not in the competences of the local government, can begin to be contracted. “Right now, recovering El Cura beach is a priority for this Department. It is one of the most charismatic beaches in Torrevieja and people deserve a more comfortable space in which to feel comfortable,” he emphasises.
