Craft market in La Mata

Friday sees the inauguration of the latest commercial support venture in Torrevieja, with the opening of the craft market in La Mata, which runs through the weekend.

Located in the main square in the town, you will find a variety of artisan gifts and goods, perfect for early Christmas presents, and the event will also feature demonstrations, craft workshops, and even yoga, offering something for everyone to get involved.

Tapas in San Fulgencio

San Fulgencio is ready for their eighth edition of the increasingly popular Tapas Route.

The gastronomic event will take place from today until Sunday in nine bars, restaurants and breweries in the town where the participating establishments will serve a tapa and a drink for a price of 3 euro.

The town hall is also providing a free bus service, so you can leave your car at home, and try at least 5 different dishes in different establishments in order to enter the prize draw and win a 100 euro voucher.

Halloween on the Orihuela Costa

Halloween celebrations will be taking place across Spain on Tuesday, and the Orihuela Costa is no exception, with Calle Escorpio, La Florida, being the centre of the spooky action, starting at 5pm with a series of workshops and craft activities.

The event promises to be a fun-filled and creative occasion for people of all ages. The craft workshops are sure to be a great opportunity to demonstrate artistic skills and enjoy the Halloween spirit. There will also be a stilt parade which will add a touch of spectacle to the event, and the fancy dress contest, with prizes for the winners, will allow those wanting to get into the Halloween spirit the opportunity to show off their spookiest outfits.

Santa Pola film star

Spanish filmmaker Alejandro Amenábar has chosen Santa Pola as one of the key locations in the province of Alicante for his next film titled “El Cautivo”.

This film will tell the story of Cervantes, who was captured by Barbary pirates off the coast of Catalonia at the young age of 28.

Filming is scheduled to begin in February. During the nine weeks of production, the team will spend six weeks in the province of Alicante. This will include a week in Alicante, one day in the Castle of Santa Bárbara, another day in Pedreguer, one week in the City of Light and four weeks in the Castle-fortress of Santa Pola.

Bargains in Benidorm

Benidorm is hosting an Outlet Fair from today, running right through the weekend, organised by the Independent Association of Merchants of Benidorm, AICO, in collaboration with the Department of Commerce.

The plaza next to the town hall is the location, where 30 large tents will offer a wide range of products, from fashion or footwear to sporting goods, household appliances, textiles and home goods, with discounts of up to 50% on the retail price.

Orchestral concerts

The ‘Llíria City of Music’ Orchestra will offer a double concert this weekend in the cities of Alicante and L’Alfàs del Pi.

On Friday, they will perform at the Casa Mediterráne in the capital of Alicante and on Saturday at the Casa de Cultura in L’Alfàs del Pi.

Under the baton of Pascual Cabanes, they will perform the program “Música a la llum de Sorolla”, with a repertoire linked to the musical environment that accompanied the life of Joaquín Sorolla, and includes works by great contemporary Spanish composers from the time of the universal Valencian artist.

A final reminder that this weekend is when summer officially ends, and you must set your clock BACK one hour in the early hours of Sunday morning.
