Home sales decline

Home sales fell by 15.8% in September in the Valencian Community, while average prices per square metre increased by 5.2%, according to notaries.

In Spain as a whole, the sale and purchase of homes fell by 15% in September, while the granting of mortgages fell by 22.6%.

However, both transactions and the granting of mortgages softened their decline compared to August, when they decreased by more than 17% and almost 27%, respectively. However, the price continued to rise by 1.8%.

Rice, rice, baby!

The regional tourism authority, Turisme Comunitat Valenciana, and the Confederation of Hospitality and Tourism of the Valencian Community (Conhostur), has launched the first edition of ‘Arroceando Comunitat Valenciana’, which starts tomorrow, Friday, and runs through until November 26.

The aim of the initiative is to highlight the importance of an ingredient as important as rice, which is part of the identity as a territory, where it is difficult to understand gastronomy without talking about rice.

More than 60 establishments spread across the three provinces have joined the campaign, with the restaurants offering a complete menu with starter, rice dish and dessert, starting from 30 euro.

The Michelin Star Atalaya in Alcossebre is amongst the participants, which has adapted its ‘Goleta Menu’ with such territorial dishes as Vinaròs prawns with garlic or creamy seasonal rice.

Torrevieja tenders bus service

Torrevieja town hall has published details of the tender for providing urban transport services in the municipality, namely buses, a service which is currently provided by Avanza without a contract.

After years in this situation, paying bills with omission of the intervening function, the government team has begun to process the tender in the previous mandate.

For now, the council has approved the cost structure and the September Plenary Session rejected an appeal for reconsideration filed by the Los Verdes.

Eco-funded gym in Torrevieja

The Malaga-based gym chain, Synergym, is continuing expansion plans to reach 100 gyms in 2024 by opening the 88th sports centre this week.

This latest fitness centre is in Torrevieja, and along with all the expected fitness fitness facilities, one of the novelties is that the centre will also have an efficient air conditioning system, for which the company is going to make an investment of 125,000 euro, which it is financing with open crowdfunding, through the participatory financing platform Ecrowd!, dedicated to finding small investors for projects with a positive impact on the environment.

Investors are invited to fund between 50 and 3,000 euro, with a promised return of 3.75%. The centre is scheduled to open by the end of this month.

Alcoy cones pass implementation test

A company from Alcoy is celebrating this week after their smart cone successfully passed the rigorous approval tests to be included into the DGT traffic department’s system.

The Erum Group, through its subsidiary PF Erum Vial, will now be able to market their smart cones which operate largely like traditional traffic cones, buy also have connections to the DGT 3.0 platform, which allows technology in the cones to monitor and report on such elements as traffic flow and automatically alert the network and road users of potential and actual problems in the area they are placed.
