A Valencian gang used phone card fraud to steal over one hundred and ten thousand euros from fifteen victims. They hired thirty-one intermediaries, many with police records, to withdraw money from hijacked bank accounts. The gang used phishing techniques, bogus SMS texts, and emails to gather personal information, ordered duplicate SIM cards, and made transfers into virtual accounts. The stolen money was used for purchases in shopping centres or accumulated through their network of mules.
