In an effort to bolster urban pest control, the municipality of Torrevieja has sanctioned a comprehensive pest management contract valued at €1.16 million, inclusive of VAT. Spanning over five years, including a two-year extension option beyond the initial three-year period, this contract entails a full spectrum of pest control services—deratization, disinfestation, and disinfection.
Federico Alarcón, the councilor-secretary of the Local Government Board, announced the approval of the contract, emphasizing the contract’s focus on safeguarding public health through the control and elimination of hazardous rodents and insects. Diana Box Alonso, the councilor responsible for pest control, hailed the new initiative as a significant step forward in addressing potential pest outbreaks. Services under the contract include comprehensive mosquito management, rodent control, and disinfection of public spaces such as educational institutions, markets, sports centers, and municipal offices. With this proactive approach, Torrevieja aims to mitigate health risks and enhance the wellbeing of its residents.
