ALICANTE, 22 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) – Agents of the Elche Local Police (Alicante) have arrested a 39-year-old man as the alleged perpetrator of a burglary in a van after being located in a bush with a backpack containing objects and a bag of tools. The events occurred on Avenida Juan Carlos I in Elche, where a person alerted the officers that he had seen three men breaking the window of a vehicle, as indicated by the Elche City Council in a statement. The witnesses described the suspects and the items they carried after breaking the van’s window, and a patrol checked this, while another group of police officers inspected the area. After several rounds, the officers found a bag of raffia with screwdrivers, a silicone gun or tapes in the area of the Huerto del Clero. Furthermore, they observed one of the suspects hidden with his head covered in a bush with a backpack and another bag with tools. In the search, the police verified that the man had recent and bloodied cuts on his hands, in addition to carrying a 17-centimeter long knife. When asked about the items he was carrying, the man did not give any explanation. At the same time, the officers consulted the database, where he had numerous arrests for similar facts. On the other hand, the patrol tried to locate the vehicle’s owner, but it was not possible because it was registered in the name of a company, so as a safety measure it was transferred to the police depot.
