Starting June 1, Renfe will introduce a new AVE high-speed train service connecting Elche, Orihuela, Villena, and Alicante with Málaga. This service, part of the Murcia-Málaga line, enables a direct journey without the previously required multiple train changes. Despite a necessary stop at Madrid’s Atocha station, and no time savings compared to existing travel options, this service streamlines the trip and sets ticket prices between €82 and €90. Even though journey times, such as the 6.32 hours from Málaga to Murcia, remain similar to current methods, the introduction of this direct train service marks a significant improvement in connectivity between these regions.
