PP make gains in European Parliamentary Elections

Right wing parties have made significant gains in the European Parliamentary Elections held this weekend.

Partido Popular came out on top on publication of the results, gaining 22 of the 61 seats available. PSOE came second with 20 seats claimed in Strasbourg and Brussels.

The far-right Vox finished third with six lawmakers, up from the four it had in the previous legislature – however the voter share dropped for the party, down nearly 3% compared to 5 years ago.

In total, right-wing parties gained over 50% of the vote, with the PSOE/Sumar coalition gaining around 42%.
