Cocaine Cartel Collapses After Final Arrests In Spain

A long-term investigation led by Guardia Civil and supported by Europol dismantled a major drug trafficking network operating between South America and the EU.

The operation culminated in coordinated actions involving Belgium, Brazil, Croatia, Germany, Italy, Serbia, and Turkey, targeting the criminal network responsible for multi-tonne cocaine shipments.

The suspects transported drugs via maritime routes through West Africa and the Canary Islands, distributing them across Europe from handling centres in various countries.

Key figures of the network operated from Turkey and Dubai, with law enforcement cooperation proving crucial.

The latest action on 12 June 2024 resulted in 4 arrests in Spain, multiple house searches, and significant seizures of assets and drugs, contributing to a total of 40 arrests and around 8 tonnes of cocaine seized throughout the investigation.
