Puigdemont Criticises Sánchez’s Linking Of Financial Arrangements To Catalan Election Outcome

Former Catalan regional president – Carles Puigdemont – has slammed prime minister Pedro Sánchez for making Catalonia’s new financing conditional on the investiture of Salvador Illa as the President of the Generalitat following last months regional elections.

Mr Puigdemont took to social media to complain over the proposal, labelling it as scandalous, accusing Sánchez of political blackmail, calling the approach as unethical.

He warned that Junts’ confidence and supply agreement in the Congress of Deputies would be at risk if the proposal was brought to the Generalitat.
