Search and rescue teams are continuing efforts to locate a missing British tourist in Tenerife.

19-year-old Jay Slater was last seen on Monday morning near Teno on the west coast of the island.

He was last located on Calle El Turron in the Rural de Teno park, having told a friend he was lost, dehydrated, and his phone was about to run out of battery.

It’s understood he was attempting to walk back to his holiday accommodation, which would have taken up to 11 hours.

The teenager had attended the NRG music festival on the island, and was wearing a white t-shirt, and was carrying a black bag.

Meanwhile family and friends have slammed opportunists for creating fraudulent collection appeals, with it being confirmed no appeal has been launched.

Mr. Slaters family arrived on the island on Tuesday to help with the search effort.

Guardia Civil have said that they are using drones to help in the search for the missing man, who may have wandered from the road he was last located on.

Anyone with information is asked to contact emergency services.
