Alicante’s new street food market will open later in the month

In the city of Alicante, people enjoy living outside. Particularly when it comes to delicious food and cultural events, its streets, squares, and promenades make the ideal location for spending time with loved ones.
Despite the current bad weather, those who enjoy street entertainment are in luck since the Alicante Street Food Market is back in Espacio Séneca for its ninth edition, bringing with it its customary craft market.
Plaza Séneca will be converted from March 20th to 23rd into a lively gathering place for fans of street food and artisanal innovation. What started out as a small culinary event in 2015 has grown into a province-wide icon, drawing thousands of people each time.
There will be something for every taste at this tenth edition, as 12 vintage food trucks will provide a diverse gastronomic selection that includes everything from Tex-Mex to hamburgers, hot dogs, and crepes. More than 40 stands of designers, artists, and craftspeople will also be present in the Market area, serving as a platform for both domestic and foreign talent.
However, this gathering is much more than just crafts and food. With a lineup of performers and bands that will enliven the days on the two stages that have been set up—one in Plaza Séneca and another in Espacio Séneca—live music will be the main attraction.
Raúl Antón will perform as a DJ at the opening on Thursday, March 20th at 6 p.m. Sanguijuelas del Guadiana, an Extremaduran band, will debut in Alicante on Friday night.
The Liverpool Band, one of the greatest Beatles tribute bands, will take the stage on Saturday morning. Later that day, the Alicante group Guaraná will perform an acoustic set featuring their greatest hits, including “La casa de Inés” and “Noche en Vela.” At 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, Xeco Rojo will conclude the musical program.
Additionally, there will be activities specifically tailored for the younger audience, including storytelling, Clown Edy’s children’s shows, art classes, and a performance by Dani Miquel.
In order to ensure that the music never stops playing during the four days, DJ Alacant will also be in charge of establishing the ambiance during non-live moments.
Free admission will be provided, and bars will serve beer and soft beverages to go with the food selection.
The easiest way to view the whole program and be sure not to miss any events is to check out the Alacant Street Food Market’s social media accounts.

In Benidorm hotels, British tourists surpass national tourists

The rise in hotel occupancy in Benidorm during the second half of February, which accounted for 42% of arrivals and was three points higher than in the first part of the month, was once again mostly due to British tourists. The Costa Blanca’s tourist capital, Hosbec, finished this time with hotels at 76.8%, higher than the monthly average of 75.5%, according to data.
With these numbers, the Brits have surpassed the national tourists, whose share of visitors decreased from 43.8% to 40.2% in the second half of the month. Similarly, the Dutch accounted for 5.2% of all visits, with Belgians coming in second at 5% and Irish at 2.2%.
With 76% of reservations confirmed for the first half of the month, one point more than during the same period in 2024, the March predictions support the upward trend. Hoteliers are able to keep positive expectations for the season because of this steadiness.
Due to the celebration of CEVISAMA and the rise in economic activity in the ceramics industry, Castellón had the highest average hotel occupancy rate in the Valencian Community, at about 85%. The employers’ group claims that “tourism and professional events combined to favour these positive results.”
While reservations for the first half of March were comparable to last year, Valencia saw a decline in occupancy, particularly in 4-star hotels. With 74.2% occupancy in the second half of February and a monthly balance of 72.8%, the Costa Blanca—aside from Benidorm—also had a minor decline, falling 3.3 points short of 2024.
