Two police officers have been accused of demeaning a trans woman in Benidorm

Local Police Benidorm YouTube Trans

Two Benidorm Local Police officers are scheduled to be tried by the First Section of the Alicante Provincial Court on Tuesday. They are accused of humiliating and belittling a trans woman due to her sexual identity while on duty and commuting in a police vehicle. The Prosecutor’s Office is provisionally requesting a penitentiary sentence of two years and two months for each of the defendants in connection with an alleged hate crime.

The incident took place on May 1st, 2020, during the quarantine in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. It garnered substantial media attention after a video was shared on social media, purportedly from within the police vehicle.

In those images, one of the police officers is observed speaking to a pedestrian on the street from the passenger seat: “I am being serious.” You are even more unattractive during the day. You are exceedingly unpleasant. What are you currently engaged in, given that you are unable to engage in sexual activity or to steal? What is your current living situation? What are you doing now, if you used to only get seduced a few times, because you are so unattractive?

No, I did not report you; I informed you of this recently. He states, “You are not permitted to be in this area,” while his colleague, who is purportedly documenting the video and operating the vehicle, responds, “No, no, we must report her.” The other officer instructs the victim, “Depart, you pig.” Benidorm City Council provisionally suspended both officers, and one of them was arrested.

The prosecution’s narrative is that one of the defendants captured the incident on his phone and subsequently transmitted it to a colleague, who subsequently shared it with a WhatsApp group of colleagues. Additionally, one of them uploaded the footage to YouTube.

Accused of raping a 12-year-old girl, a man has been acquitted

Alicante Provisional Court

A young man who was a couple with a 12-year-old girl in San Vicente del Raspeig was absolved of sexually assaulting her in Alicante Juvenile Court No. 2. The man, who was 17 years old at the time of the reported incidents in 2023, was facing a request from the Prosecutor’s Office for nearly three years of confined confinement. He has since been acquitted.

The ruling has established that both parties engaged in sexual intercourse with vaginal penetration. However, it does not establish that the defendant, who was represented by attorney José Luis Sánchez Calvo, used “intimidation or violence” or that the interaction was “without consent,” as the victim did not disclose the alleged assault until one year had passed.

The ruling also notes that the young man was four and a half years older than the younger girl. Although the two exhibited a clear distinction in physical development, “there is no evidence that such a difference also existed in the psychological realm.”

The facts that were established in the ruling are dated back to September 2022. The minor was involved in a romantic relationship with a 12-year-old female. They engaged in sexual intercourse that involved vaginal penetration at one point while they were in her family residence. Conversely, the magistrate maintains that intimidation or violence were not employed during the incident.

According to the ruling issued by Juvenile Court No. 2 of Alicante, they terminated their relationship as a result of this purported abuse; however, they re-established it six months later and continued to engage in consensual sexual intercourse until the separation in October of the same year.

A complaint that was filed after the fact

In the same month, the girl and her mother visited the police station to report the purported abuse. She reported that her partner proposed having intercourse with her while they were alone at her partner’s parents’ home. She declined, requesting that he cease. However, the girl informed the officers that he persisted in his refusal to relinquish her and pursue another woman. He ultimately forcibly removed her trousers, and they engaged in sexual intercourse.

The ruling asserts that the minor informed her mother the day following the incident that she had engaged in sexual intercourse with her lover, but that she had not been coerced into doing so. The couple separated in October 2022, one month after the alleged maltreatment, as per the advice of her parents. The young man apologised to her parents six months later, and they consented to the resumption of their relationship.

According to the complainant, they engaged in “consensual” sexual relations during the eight-month duration of the second phase of this relationship, which concluded in October 2023. It concluded with four distinct versions of the narrative; however, the precise rationale for this ending remains uncertain.

The mother stated that they requested it after discovering that the initial relationship was coerced. In the interim, the man who was exonerated claimed that they parted ways due to the minor discovering that he was dating other women. The victim presented two alternatives: initially, she expressed her fatigue with the relationship; however, she later disclosed that she had forbidden her partner from recording the consensual sex out of concern for the potential virality of the images. The defendant’s phone did not contain any recordings, as indicated in the sentence, according to the Civil Guard.

In Milena, a criminal organisation that possessed over 800 marijuana plants has been dismantled

National Police Drug Farm

In Millena (Alicante), an international criminal organisation that specialised in the intensive cultivation and subsequent sale of marijuana has been effectively dismantled by agents from the National Police and Civil Guard as part of the joint operation CoqVerT. The investigation led to the arrest of four individuals and the confiscation of 800 marijuana plants.

In October 2024, the Judicial Police Brigade of the Alcoi Police Station initiated an investigation into this case after detecting “substantial fraudulent electricity consumption” in an isolated country home in Millena. During the same period, the Ibi Civil Guard’s Countryside Robbery Team (ROCA) was conducting an investigation into a group of citizens who were suspected of being associated with a criminal organisation that specialised in marijuana cultivation, as stated by the Police Headquarters in a statement. Consequently, the two incidents may have been linked as a result of the collaboration between the Ministry of the Interior’s Intelligence Centre against Terrorism and Organised Crime (CITCO) and both police forces. A joint investigation team was established to confirm the criminal activity in light of this information.

The plantation was situated within a property that was rented for €18,000 per year in cash, with payment made in two semiannual installments, according to the evidence. It was found that those involved maintained constant security measures and travelled frequently between Spain and several European countries, including the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and France, which made police tracking difficult.

Over the course of a four-month investigation, there was a direct connection between individuals of Albanian and Dutch descent. Some of these individuals had criminal records and pending prison sentences in Europe for public health offences. Therefore, on February 19, the exploitation phase of the operation was conducted, with the Torrevieja Citizen Security Unit (USECIC) providing assistance in the break-in and security of the residence. This phase was conducted by National Police and Civil Guard officers.

Three vehicles, 800 marijuana plants, and a variety of cannabis cultivation and processing-related objects were confiscated during the search. In an effort to escape, the two primary suspects toppled a plasterboard wall and fled through the adjacent terraces during the raid. Nevertheless, the police cordon, which was bolstered by a drone, enabled them to be intercepted despite their “significant resistance.” Consequently, two additional arrests were made: one at the police headquarters in Alcoi and the other in the vicinity of the plantation.

Two Albanian detainees, both 25 years old, and two others, a male and a woman, both 25 and 29, were brought before a court. The court ordered the two Albanian citizens to be imprisoned, while the two Dutch citizens were released on bail.

They are charged with narcotic trafficking, electricity fraud, resistance and disobedience, assaulting law enforcement officers, and belonging to a criminal organisation, depending on the extent of their involvement. The case has been transferred to the Investigative Court No. 2 of the Judicial District. The investigation is ongoing, and it is not impossible for additional arrests to occur.
