La Mata Natural Park Visitor´s Centre

The La Mata Natural Park Visitor´s Centre, correctly called the Centro de Interpretación Parque Natural La Mata, is located just off the N-332 coastal road in La Mata, Torrevieja.

There is a large car park, although this sometimes gets busy on market days (Wednesday), and in the summer months. A bust stop is also located nearby.

The visitor’s centre itself is located in the old Forest House, Casa Forestal, in the district of La Mata (Torrevieja).

There are footpaths through the natural park area, with lookout towers offering views across the main lake, the blue lake, which sits alongside vineyards, although these are fenced off for protection. There are also picnic tables along the route.

The centre organises frequent events, including those which focus on the natural flora and fauna, and experts offer advice of what can be seen, where and when.

Of course, being a natural park, visitors should respect the surroundings.

The precise location on the N-332 Alicante – Cartagena road is at km 64.5, where a roundabout takes you to a curved road which leads into the car park.
