Jijona Christmas and Turron Fair

The Jijona Christmas and Turron Fair is a popular annual holiday event on the Costa Blanca. It is essentially the world’s largest marketplace for turrón, also known as nougat, a traditional Spanish Christmas sweet.
What it is: A four-day Christmas market and cultural festival showcasing the diverse range of turrón and other Christmas sweets produced in Jijona, known as the “Nougat Capital.”
Purpose: To highlight the city’s signature products, turrón de Jijona (soft nougat) and turrón de Alicante (hard nougat), as well as other regional artisanal goods.
Key activities and attractions:
The fair offers far more than just shopping. The full programme for 2025 will be released closer to the date, but the following activities are annual staples.
- Turron Sales & Tasting: Numerous stalls run by Jijona’s master turron makers provide free samples and direct sales of a wide range of nougat, marzipan figures, chocolates, and other Christmas delicacies, often at reduced prices.
