Orihuela hosts a medieval festival every year. The market starts at the Cathedral and has many stalls selling food, drink, souvenirs, artefacts, jewellery, and apparel, all dressed in traditional attire. in period attire. Between the stalls, musicians, drummers, and groups in increasingly elaborate costumes amuse visitors. Many jugglers, acrobats, and fencers add to the enjoyment. Spain honours its Arabic roots with a bazaar featuring camels and a belly dancer with musicians. Near the cathedral, unusual birds of prey, typical of medieval falconers, sit on their perches and monitor passersby. With suckling piglets sizzling on a spit, paella, ribs, and delicious Spanish wines, this market has something for everyone.
