Tomorrow, Saturday October 18th , from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, there will be music and entertainment on Alicante’s Avenida de la Constitución. A record-breaking coca de mollitas (a sort of pastry with mollitas) will be on display. The event is part of the city’s 2025 Spanish Capital of Gastronomy Honours. Its goal is to let people experience this unique Alicante product for free.
The Alicante City Council, through the Department of Hospitality, Commerce, and Markets, the Tourism Board, and Facpyme, is in charge of the food and drink festival. The council said in a statement that a notary should be there to “certify the full size of the coca.”
A stage with music and entertainment will be set up on the avenue, along with a table that is more than 100 meters long. The huge coca will be placed on the table. Aguas de Alicante is also taking part by putting in a fountain, and Fuze Tea will be serving drinks.
The jury, which is made up of the rector of the University of Alicante (UA), Amparo Navarro, the councillors for Commerce and Hospitality and Tourism, Lidia López and Ana Poquet, as well as representatives from the Alicante Chamber of Commerce, the president of the Bakers’ Guild, Harinas La Encarnación, and Facpyme, will announce the winner of the best coca de mollitas in Alicante that same Saturday at the event.
The City Council said it has put together a “wide-ranging event” for the event, which comprises the departments of Commerce and Hospitality, Tourism, Public Highway Management, Infrastructure, Cleaning, Safety and Civil Protection, Social Welfare, as well as Esatur and Facpyme.
Councillor Lidia López asked everyone to “try the giant coca de mollitas and join in this festival.” The event will commemorate the region’s culinary centre and show off “the work of bakeries and bakeries throughout the province.”
She also said, “It’s an important project that includes a contest to find the best coca de mollitas in Alicante.” “Gluten-free coca portions will also be served so that everyone can enjoy one of our signature dishes,” she said.
