Two men arrested after robbing an Alicante man, setting fire to his car and abandoning it in the mountains

The Civil Guard has detained two men for allegedly beating, robbing, and burning the car of an Alicante resident in the mountainous region of Fortuna (Murcia). They then left the car there and used his fingerprint to access his internet banking. The arrests came after over two months of inquiry, the military said in a statement released yesterday, Monday 10th March.
The two detained individuals, who are regarded as “dangerous criminals” and are 24 and 33 years old, are charged with robbery with violence and intimidation, fraud, injuries, and fire damage. This case’s investigation, which is a component of Operation Esfumados, started after the Guardia Civil received word that a burning car had been found in a remote portion of the Fortuna municipality in Murcia. It was found that the fire had been started on purpose after the firefighters put it out.
A resident of Alicante also filed a complaint with the Armed Institute, claiming to have been the victim of a violent robbery that ended when his attackers abandoned him in a mountainous area and fled in his car—the same car that had appeared to be burned in the Fortuna area. The chronology of the occurrences, which started when the complainant was in an Alicante recreation centre, was established thanks to the investigations. Following his conversations with two people, he consented to drive them home.
He suffered severe beatings.
They took him to a mountainous region in the municipality of Fortuna, where they brutally assaulted him in order to take a cell phone and 700 euros. They reportedly used his fingerprint to open his phone’s internet banking software and perform a number of transfers while he was still astonished. The wounded person walked to the village and requested assistance. After that, he was brought to the Morales Meseguer Hospital in Murcia, where he spent the night. Civil Guard investigators gathered footage from the Alicante property’s security cameras and recognised two people who matched the suspects’ physical attributes.
The Civil Guards were able to identify the two citizens of Fortuna who were allegedly missing as the accused attackers thanks to these hints and the remaining information they had gathered. Both were arrested as part of Operation Esfumados, which concluded after over two months of inquiry.

Drugs den and ‘nursery’ dismantled in the same building in Alicante

The police have dealt a new blow to narcotic trafficking in Alicante. The National Police have demolished a drug sanctuary and an additional residence that served as a “nursery” for narcotics. The city center’s supply source, was located near The Principal Theatre. According to police sources, the operation led to the apprehension of two alleged traffickers, aged 36 and 52. The judge has ordered the remand of the primary suspect in detention.
The anti-drug investigation commenced following the identification of a potential drug retail point in a city residence, from which various narcotics, including cocaine and hashish, were distributed.
In the course of conducting surveillance around the residence under investigation, officers verified that the occupant was engaging in illicit activities within the premises. The occupant used a room in another flat within the same building as a drug depot, storing the majority of the substances to reduce the likelihood of a police raid.
During the operational portion of the investigation, a police operation resulted in the arrest of the primary suspect and the owner of the residence where the narcotics were stored.
Concurrently, a search was conducted, resulting in the seizure of 242 grams of cocaine, 280 grams of hashish, €897 in small bills, and numerous precision scales and instruments for preparing doses.
The local magistrates’ court in Alicante has brought the primary suspect before it and jailed him following police proceedings. Through this operation, the national police have effectively eliminated a significant drug distribution point that supplies the city centre.

Nevertheless, the City Council would like to remind all participants that helmets are mandatory for participation in the activity.

The event is timed to coincide with Mother’s Day, making it an ideal opportunity to engage in this activity with the entire family. Javier Jordá, Councillor for Sports, stated that the event is designed to “encourage them to exercise, share great moments with them, and promote the use of bicycles as a healthy and enjoyable form of leisure activity.” Following the event, attendees will participate in a traditional bicycle raffle.
