Woman arrested after throwing two dogs from an eighth-floor flat in Alicante

The National Police have detained a 53-year-old woman in Alicante for reportedly throwing two Yorkshire terriers out the window of her eighth-floor home, supposedly because she refused to take them for a walk. The Local Police arrived to identify and recover the bodies of the two dogs.
The animal’s owner, who appeared in court yesterday morning, Monday 24th March, revealed to police officers that the incident occurred at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday on Calle Sol Naciente in the Alicante neighbourhood of Albufereta, from where she was later detained.
Following a report of the event, a National Police patrol responded to the area. They interrogated many witnesses, who claimed that the now-detained woman threw several objects into the street.

One dead in the Pilar de la Horadada tunnel after an accident between a car and a truck

A lorry with flammable materials on board overturned in the AP-7 tunnel near Pilar de la Horadada, as it travelled towards Cartagena, resulting in a severe traffic accident. This resulted in a spectacular conflagration and the truck driver’s death.
It appears that the tragedy was the result of a tyre burst on a heavy vehicle. The ferocity of the flames was exacerbated by the truck’s “non-hazardous” cargo and the accident’s location within the tunnel. Additionally, the same sources indicate that at the time of the accident, an additional vehicle was present within the tunnel, unaffected by the fire. The driver of this vehicle was able to escape independently.

The Consortium has dispatched three command headquarters units (UMJ), two heavy urban fire trucks (BUP9), three heavy tanker trucks (BNP), a rescue van (FSV), an officer, two non-commissioned officers, a sergeant, three corporals, and 14 firefighters from the Torrevieja, Almoradí, Orihuela, and Elche fire stations to extinguish the fire.

AP7 Motorway tunnel at Pilar de la Horadada CLOSED due to fire

A significant fire outbreak has been documented in the southbound tunnel of the AP7 at Pilar de la Horadada, as evidenced by the emergence of video footage.
The cause of the fire is currently unknown; however, it appears that the tunnel is currently closed to traffic in both directions.
The tunnel is presently enduring a substantial modernisation project with the objective of enhancing energy efficiency and ensuring safety. The tunnel’s lighting system is presently undergoing upgrades; however, it is uncertain whether this is related to the closure.
The fire has generated a significant quantity of smoke, which has accumulated within the tunnel and is a threat to motorists. This smoke is visible from a distance. Consequently, the culvert was closed by the authorities to guarantee safety. The tunnel’s ventilation systems have been activated to dispel the haze, and fire crews are currently present.
