One arrested in Benidorm for “Son in Difficulty” scam

A person who participated in a scam network called “Son in Trouble” was arrested in Benidorm.
One of the participants in the Benidorm call has been taken into custody by police.
The suspect is in charge of a call centre in the tourist city where a fraud with fictitious data was carried out once the terminal was activated. This kind of fraud involves con artists posing as the victim’s son, reaching out to her through text messages or instant messaging apps, and making an urgent demand for money.
Agents of the National Police assigned to the Badajoz, Madrid, and Benidorm police stations conducted the operation, and two individuals were taken into custody on suspicion of committing the crimes of fraud, money laundering, document forgery, and usurpation of marital status.
The investigation started after a 64-year-old woman in Badajoz filed a complaint alleging that she had been duped by individuals posing as her daughter, who persuaded him that he had issues with his cell phone and that he urgently needed me to send 4,000 euros, to which I consented.
When they later requested a fresh payment of 4,985 euros, she became suspicious and realised it was a scam.
Using the phone numbers and bank account information of the transaction’s beneficiary, agents from the Brigade provincial of Badajoz’s technological crimes group conducted an investigation into this crime.
The receiving account’s owner was clearly recognised by the agents
A man based in Madrid was the source of the stolen funds, so they forwarded this information to the Madrid-Tetuán Police Station, where they arrested him on charges of money laundering and fraud.
They also confirmed that the owner of the phone used to send messages to the victim, posing as the victim’s daughter, was a Cordoba man who had previously complained about usurping his civil status, making him another scammer victim.
The phone had been registered and activated using a fictitious identity, identifying the point of sale at a Benidorm call centre that was operated by a man with a comparable criminal history. Using the information supplied, the Benidorm Police Station agents detained him for falsifying documents.
With increasingly sophisticated techniques for delivering bulk mails, this kind of scam is growing in popularity. In light of this, the National Police will provide an update today regarding another major operation in which a major organisation has collapsed.
He estimates that he has a call centre to carry out this kind of scam.
that the criminal organisation, which functioned around the clock, might have caused an economic loss of over 2,000,000 euros to over 2,000 victims, which illustrates the volume of operations they conducted.
Both the hitman and the son in trouble scams were areas of expertise for the organisation. According to the General Directorate of Police, it is a form of fraud where the con artists pretend to be contract killers and threaten their victims with violence while requesting money to prevent harm or death.

Arrest made after a string of break-ins at Benidorm’s bars and restaurants

The culprit in a string of break-ins at Benidorm’s hospitality establishments has been taken into custody by the National Police. According to police sources, he is accused of committing six burglaries at businesses around Levante Beach, which had raised serious concerns among business owners.
Officers started the investigation in mid-February after receiving information about a break-in at a hospitality establishment where the suspect allegedly forced access via the door frame and took a surveillance camera, two mobile phones and the cash register.
Five more reports that matched the stolen items and modus operandi were filed in the weeks that followed. Investigators ruled out the involvement of a specialised group after confirming that the burglar in some of these cases took bottles of alcohol.
Investigators were able to identify the offender, a frequent visitor to the area, following extensive investigations and with the assistance of the Scientific Police, who collected definitive evidence during Technical Police Inspections at the venues.
After identifying him, police found him close to one of the previously targeted businesses and took him into custody on suspicion of committing six burglaries. The 45-year-old man has a criminal history and was taken to Benidorm’s Judicial Authority after being arrested, and they finally decided to imprison him.
Mobile phones, cash registers, alcohol bottles, key sets, and cash totalling more than 2,000 euros were among the stolen goods. The suspect’s damage to windows, doors, and furniture is substantially greater.

Two hurt when two lorries and a car collided on the A-7 at Crevillente

Two trucks and a car were involved in a violent collision on the A-7 near Crevillent that left two people with minor injuries. The Guardia Civil Traffic Department has closed both lanes of traffic going to Alicante, but only one lane was closed going towards Murcia.
Traffic has been stuck in queues for miles in the Murcia direction, while the Guardia Civil had established a detour for cars using the motorway junction exit in the Alicante direction.
The collision happened close to the town of Crevillent at kilometre 529.300 of the A-7 highway at around 1:31 p.m. A truck heading towards Murcia lost control after a tyre blowout, drifting into the opposing lane and colliding with another heavy vehicle, according to preliminary information collected at the scene by the Guardia Civil Traffic Department. On the centre reservation, a car then struck one of the trucks.
Guardia Civil patrols and paramedics arrived at the scene of the collision between the three vehicles.
Traffic issues lasted until around 3:30 p.m., and the tow trucks were still waiting to remove the damaged cars and trucks.

A British ice cream van seized by Benidorm Local Police

Many people, particularly tourists, are seeking a refreshing treat in the form of ice creams from ‘Mr. Whippy,’ an ice-cream van operating in Benidorm that has now been seized by the local police in the tourist capital for, among other infractions, not having a business licence.
The ice cream van was owned by a Brit, had been in operation for a while, and was eventually seized by the local police near Levante beach, the city’s most popular sandy area. This is similar to what has happened in the past with illegal taxi that offer transfers between Benidorm and the airport.
In the course of the operation, “transport inspection units,” according to police spokesperson Quique Tortosa, “seized an English ice-cream van that was transporting and selling food without authorisation on Levante beach.”
The van was inspected by officials, who discovered “a large quantity of perishable food inside, without any hygiene or sanitary controls.” Tortosa went on to say that “all the merchandise was seized.”
The Benidorm Local Police spokeswoman emphasised that it is “very important to always keep in mind that food products must be purchased from authorised establishments, which are those that comply with the safety standards for their consumption.”
