José Antonio Román, the Councillor for Sports in Elche, was there to see the fourth edition of the Ruta 091 Elche 2025 Solidarity Race. The National Police puts on this race every year. It will be on December 7th, starting and ending at the Paseo de la Estación.
With 1,300 people already signed up, the event will include sports, community service, and a course that goes through some of the most famous places in the city.
To show what the police do
Pedro Montore, the top commissioner of the National Police in Elche, said that the program “was born with the idea of highlighting the work of this police force in the municipality.” He went on to say, “It’s not just a sporting event; it’s a holiday for the National Police and the community.”
José Antonio Román, the Councillor for Sports, said that this year’s route will be 5.6 kilometres long and provide alternatives for both running and walking. “It’s an event for families to enjoy without trying to beat their own best times. He also said that this year it lets people explore part of the Palmeral, which is a World Heritage Site.
The race has a significant social goal. So, the money goes to the Acquired Brain Injury Association of Elche, Decerelx, and the Conciénciate Foundation. Both groups have said how thankful they are to have received money from this year’s event.
“It’s great when an athletic event has a social goal. “We can keep working on our social projects and help those who need it most because of this,” said Gorka Chazarra, head of the Conciénciate Foundation. M. Carmen, the president of Dacerelx, said that her group feels “very privileged to be part of such an important event.”
