Puigdemont arrest warrant remains active

Supreme Court Judge Pablo Llarena has confirmed that the arrest warrant against former Catalan regional president Carles Puigdemont reaims active, despite the formal publication of the amnesty law.

In his ruling, he gave a five-day deadline to Prosecution and Defence teams for information on the amnesty’s applicability to Mr. Puigdemont and others who remain in exile.

Mr. Puigdemont fled Spain following the failed Catalan independence referendum and declaration in 2017.
