Severe Rainfall Causes Safety Issues At Palma De Mallorca Airport

Intense rainfall has caused major disruptions at Palma de Mallorca airport, halting operations due to safety concerns.

Over 100 flights were delayed after over 53 litres per square metre of rain fell with flights resuming after a two-hour closure.

The flooding came after parts of the country were inundated with rainfall, with areas on the Costa Blanca and Murcia also experiencing localised flooding in places.

Yellow and Amber weather warnings remain in force for the south east of the Iberian peninsular and the Balearics today.
