Spain hosted the eighth bilateral Summit with Turkey this week, three years after the previous one in Ankara, where the relationship was elevated to a ‘Comprehensive Association.’
Key Spanish ministers, including DEputy PM Yolanda Díaz and the Minister of Foreign Affairs José Manuel Albares, met with their Turkish counterparts to discuss various sectoral issues.
Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan highlighted the strong bilateral ties, aiming for 25 billion euros in annual trade and emphasizing security and defence cooperation within NATO.
They also addressed global issues such as the Middle East conflict and Ukraine, sharing a commitment to strong international institutions and humanitarian efforts.
The summit concluded with the signing of 13 Memorandums of Understanding to enhance cooperation in economics, trade, scientific research, social policies, and other sectors.
