Benidorm
Benidorm: Sunlight and Nonstop Fun
Benidorm. The term brings up visions of high-rises, beaches, and nonstop partying. The city largely lives up to its hype. Tradition and hedonism mix in this Mediterranean Spanish beach city.
My first impression was overwhelming. The city’s massive towers were surprising. I discovered a new Benidorm after the original tourists left.
The beaches are the main attraction. Levante Beach’s excellent golden sand and clear waves are perfect for sunbathing. I spent hours basking in the sun, watching the world and occasionally fighting the waves. Poniente Beach is more laid-back, excellent for strolling and eating local seafood at one of the many beachfront chiringuitos.
Beyond sun and beach, Benidorm is more. With its tiny cobbled alleys and lovely plazas, the old town offers a delightful respite from the resort’s hectic pace. Explore classic tapas bars, the mediaeval church of San Jaime y Santa Ana, and true Spanish culture here.
The Balcón del Mediterráneo, a picturesque lookout with stunning views of the city and sea, was one of my favourite stops. It’s ideal for Benidorm skyline photos.
Benidorm offers several adventures. Water sports include jet skiing, paragliding, diving, and snorkelling. At Terra Mítica, visitors may enjoy thrilling attractions, water rides, and entertainment for all ages.
Be aware that Benidorm has downsides. In peak season, the city can be busy and the high-rise development overpowering. Benidorm is charming despite these tiny issues.
The city’s nightlife has something for everyone. There’s usually something happening after dark, from vibrant pubs and clubs to flamenco shows and live music. Of course, the food is special. Benidorm’s cuisine is delicious, from fresh seafood paella to patatas bravas and gambas al ajillo.
Benidorm is full of contrasts. It blends modern and traditional, leisure and excitement. Not everyone will like it, but those who embrace its distinct energy will have a remarkable experience.
