Making your own banger patties from scratch is incredibly fulfilling; they are juicy, flavourful and far more satisfying than anything that comes prepackaged. They make for a filling but still fresh meal when paired with a crisp, colourful side salad. Ingredients

1 pack of sausage meat

1 large egg

Pinch of salt

Pinch of black pepper

½ finely chopped onion

Flour (enough to prevent sticking)

Instructions

Instructions:

Prepare the mixture:
Put all of the sausage meat in a big mixing bowl. Beat one large egg, then add it to the sausage meat along with a pinch of salt and black pepper.

Add onion and mix:
Add the finely chopped half onion to the bowl. Mix everything with your hands until it's all well combined.

Add flour:
Using your hands, mix in the flour a small amount at a time until the mixture is soft and pliable but no longer sticky.

Shape the patties:
Place the mixture on a board that has been floured. Evenly flatten it out. After that, you can either leave it in one big flattened piece or break it up into smaller pieces to form into individual little patties.

Cook the patties:
A frying pan should be heated to medium heat. The patties (or the large flattened piece) should be gently fried on both sides until they are cooked through and have a slight crispy exterior. Generally speaking, depending on thickness, this takes 4 to 5 minutes per side.

Serve and enjoy:
Serve your homemade sausage patties hot for breakfast, in sandwiches, or with your favourite sides.
