The Torrevieja Health Department has put out a bid for new endoscopy equipment for the Digestive Medicine department. The equipment will be leased with no chance to buy it. According to the tender documents on the Public Sector Procurement Platform, the contract is worth €518,352.55 and has a base budget of €501,765.27 (€414,682.04 without taxes). It must be completed within 30 days of being signed.
The tender, which was handled through an open process and is subject to uniform rules, calls for the hospital’s endoscopy equipment to be completely replaced. The contract includes an endoscopic tower, three video colonoscopes, three video gastroscopes, and two drying cabinets. It also covers the work needed to set up and get the equipment running.
A method that takes into account both technical and economic factors
The competition assigns price a lot of weight (up to 50 points), but it also includes technical and performance factors that can add up to 22 points. These include things like the endoscopes’ viewing angle, picture quality, the availability of extra light guides, the availability of HDTV chromoendoscopy, and the existence of timers and advanced control systems in the extra equipment.
The review will also look at the training plan for experts, how quickly technical service can respond to incidents, and how comfortable the equipment is to use. Also, criteria that can be judged subjectively and are worth up to 18 points will be looked at.
Bids must be received by November 4th
Companies that are interested can send in their bids electronically until 11:59 p.m. on November 4th, 2025. The financial bids will be opened on December 16th at the contracting area of the Torrevieja University Hospital.
The tender specifications also say that the ultimate guarantee must be 5% of the contract award amount, and bidders must show that they are technically and financially sound. In terms of technology, they must have provided identical equipment in the last three years with a minimum annual value of €72,569. In terms of being able to pay your bills, the best financial year in the last three years had a turnover of €155,505.
A one-year extension is possible
The contract is only for a short time—30 days to sign and 30 days to use the equipment—but the tender includes the option for a 12-month extension. This would let the department keep renting the equipment for as long as it needs it.
The Gastroenterology Department’s most important investment is buying new endoscopy equipment. These tools are necessary for important diagnostic and therapeutic procedures like colonoscopies and gastroscopies. The contract also says that the cabinets for drying and storing the endoscopes must be connected to the hospital’s computer system to make it easier to track them and make them safer to use.
