With its magnificent yearly Christmas Light Switch-On, the seaside city of Torrevieja formally ushers in the holiday season and turns the area into a brilliant winter wonderland.
With a significant investment in lighting, Torrevieja continuously strives to be one of the brightest Christmas destinations on the Southern Costa Blanca. The grand illumination marks the beginning of both the city’s Patron Saint Festivities in honour of the immaculate Conception and the Christmas season.

The sheer scale of the lighting project is what sets Torrevieja apart. Thousands of LED lights are dispersed throughout the city as part of the display, extending the joyous ambiance well beyond the main squares.
- Illuminated Zones: An amazing array of LED lights illuminates more than 70 streets, squares, and promenades throughout the municipality.
- The most striking feature is the 22-meter-tall natural Christmas tree that stands at the port area’s entrance, close to Bar La Marina. This colossal tree is adorned with approximately 20,000 warm toned LED bulbs.
- The Light Canopy: The main shopping streets, including Calle Concepcion, Fotografos, Darblade, and Canonigo Torres, become the highlight of the light magic. A breathtaking ceiling of light composed of miles of garlands and moving star motifs frequently covers these streets, making for an immersive strolling experience.
From late November until the end of the Three Kings celebrations in early January, the lights are usually left on every night, bringing warmth and magic to the Costa Blanca coast during the holiday season.
