Neighbours’ multiple reports of suspected drug trafficking from a residence in the Puñalada neighbourhood of Elche have enabled the National Police to eliminate a drug sale hotspot. Police say the house was a primary distribution point for marijuana and hashish.
Spanish nationals, a man and a woman, respectively 37 and 49 years old, have been apprehended for drug trafficking crimes as a consequence of an operation that started after citizens’ associations and the Elche National Police’s Citizen Participation Unit had contact.
The officers analysed the data and then conducted multiple surveillances on the premises under investigation, during which they saw a high volume of customers coming and going, providing conclusive evidence of the sale of the aforementioned substances.
Following the identification of the house’s occupants, the police conducted a search of the residence under investigation and the subsequent arrest of the two individuals on charges of narcotics trafficking.
Additionally, 107 grammes of marijuana, 38 doses of hashish, and 14 doses of ready-to-sell marijuana were confiscated during the search. The same sources also state that 966 euros in coins and bills, a knife, and a precision scale were also found.
Once the police investigations in Elche have concluded, the inmates will be available before the on-duty court of instruction.
