According to a statement from the Guardia Civil, a thief and a drug dealer were caught by police in Torrevieja during an early morning raid. The thieves and dealers were only a few meters away. The police were called when an alarm went off about a house break-in in the middle of the night. When they got to the house, they caught the accused thief, a 43-year-old woman who had been convicted of several property crimes before.
While the investigation was going on, officers from the Armed Institute saw a man at a nearby petrol station. The man’s behaviour made them suspicious. After he was identified, it was found that he had a past of drug trafficking and property crimes. When the police searched him, they found a bag with ecstasy pills, marijuana, cocaine, and small amounts of cash. They caught him for these crimes.
The two people who were arrested, who are not related, and the things that were taken from them were given to the Court of Guard and Instruction of the Judicial District of Torrevieja. This court freed them with some restrictions.
The events began in the early hours of 22 January, when the Guardia Civil received an alarm call for a possible robbery in a house in Torrevieja. Agents from the town’s Main Post immediately went to the scene, intercepting a woman nearby who had a number of previous convictions for property crimes and who had just left the house.
During an initial inspection, the officers found that the door and window panes had been broken to gain access to the interior, but that the suspect had left the premises without taking any items. Based on these facts, she was arrested as the alleged perpetrator of a crime of burglary in a dwelling.
Without leaving the house, the officers detected the presence of an individual acting suspiciously at a nearby petrol station. After identifying him, it was found that he had a history of property crimes and drug trafficking.
In addition, the officers observed that he was carrying a large bag in one of his trouser pockets. Upon inspection, they found 347 MDMA or ecstasy pills, 1.43 grams of marijuana, 0.66 grams of cocaine and 150 euros in notes and coins. Given the quantity of drugs seized, the man was arrested for a crime against public health for drug trafficking.
