A 43-year-old woman was caught by the Local Police of Elche after a dangerous chase along the A7 and the N-340. She was driving at high speeds with her lights off, even though police told her to stop. An cop was called when he saw the car acting recklessly on the highway, which led to the accident.
Because the situation was so bad, the cops sent out a team to stop the car before it could cause an accident. The woman tried to get into Elche’s city heart via the N-340 without slowing down, even though police officers were trying to stop her.
During the chase, the driver tried to hit a traffic cop and had to quickly move out of the way. People on foot and other cars on the road were in grave danger because of how carelessly she drove. In the end, the cops were able to stop her before she got to Torrellano and arrest her.
It was found out after the woman was arrested that she had been in a similar race in Torrevieja, where the Civil Guard stepped in to stop it. She is now being charged with disobeying the law, resisting authority, attacking a police officer, and crimes against road safety.
The government stresses how important it is for the different security forces to work together to stop these kinds of events and protect people’s safety. The Elche Local Police will keep looking into the case and will work with the Civil Guard to make sure that the right legal steps are taken.
