Pedro Sánchez, the President of the Government, presented a new military aid plan for Ukraine at 1,000 million euros in 2025 this Monday while in Kiev commemorating the worldwide conference in support of Ukraine. A ‘House of Ukraine’ will be established in Torrevieja to serve the requirements of the Ukrainian population in Spain, Sánchez disclosed during the breakdown of the actions to be done.
The president of the government stated, “We will not abandon them when they need us most,” while attending a summit on Monday to commemorate the third anniversary of the Russian invasion. Several European leaders, including Antonio Costa, the president of the European Council, and Ursula Von der Leyen, the president of the European Commission, were present.
While announcing “a new military aid package of 1 billion euros in 2025,” Sánchez continued, “Spain will continue to provide military support and equipment with even greater determination, if possible.” This military aid package is in addition to the $1 billion that was previously announced for 2024 and is a part of the Bilateral Security and Defence Agreement that was signed in May during Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s visit to Spain. Additionally, it is on top of the 7,000 Ukrainian soldiers who have been trained in Spain and the military assistance that was previously given beforehand.
Sanchez has also stated that he will continue to support Ukraine “for as long as necessary” and pledged that Spain will work “side by side with Ukraine in its reconstruction,” pushing Spanish businesses to take part in the required infrastructure projects.
