Through the Department of Health, the Elche City Council has started a program to teach people how to use a defibrillator and perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). To make sure that people know what to do in an emergency, these free classes will be offered in several areas.
Locations and dates
The first training sessions will start today, Thursday February 27th, at 10:00 a.m. at the La Marina social centre and at 12:30 p.m. at the Arenales del Sol health centre.
The meeting is scheduled at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 28th in the Jubalcoy-Saladas civic centre. The courses are scheduled to arrive at the Las Bayas social centre at 10:00 a.m. and the Torrellano Bajo civic centre at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, March 3rd.
The training will begin at 6:00 p.m. in Valverde, while inhabitants of La Hoya can attend the session at their community centre on Tuesday, March 4th at 10:00 a.m. Lastly, it will take place at the Casa del Mayor at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 5th.
The value of disaster preparedness training
The goal of this project, according to Councillor for Health Inma Mora, is to make sure that the residents of Elche “know the basics of CPR and how to act in any emergency situation.”
Additionally, Mora emphasised that “every second counts,” highlighting the need of learning this information since it can be useful in dire circumstances.
A dedication to safety and health
These classes are a component of the city’s plan to improve public safety and well-being. Citizens will be able to play a crucial role in emergency care and improve survival rates in the event of cardiorespiratory arrest if they have access to free training.
All citizens are invited by the City Council to take part in these educational and awareness events, which have the potential to significantly impact the community.
