No one was hurt when firefighters from the Alicante Fire Prevention, Extinction and Rescue Service extinguished a scooter-related fire inside a house yesterday morning, Wednesday 26th March.
The eighth level of a building on Avenida Doctor Rico de Alicante caught fire at around ten in the morning. It’s unknown what caused an electric scooter’s battery to catch fire, and soon after, smoke was visible coming from the home outside.
While some of the Alicante Local Police’s patrol cars were directing traffic on the avenue, other officers approached the fire scene and made an unsuccessful attempt to put it out with two fire extinguishers.
Officers awaited the arrival of a SPEIS unit shortly after, which took over the extinguishing procedure because this kind of fire cannot be put out with a fire extinguisher.
Seven individuals were evacuated while the scooter fire was being put out, according to municipal sources. Whether the battery was being charged using a plug at the time of the accident has not been disclosed.
