Alicante-Elche Airport schedules 360,000 passenger arrivals for a record-breaking Easter

Alicante-Elche Airport has already entered the high season, and the first significant challenge of the season is here: Easter. Alicante airport will offer 226 routes to 135 terminals in 120 cities and 30 countries between April and October, with its summer offerings nearly complete. Over thirty airlines operate these routes.

El Altet terminal is in the process of preparing for an increase in passenger traffic following two consecutive months of record-breaking flights and a potential new apex in March. During Easter, 360,000 seats have been reserved by airlines for the Costa Blanca.

The province’s greatest market, the United Kingdom, will account for approximately one-third of these seats, with approximately 120,000 available. Connectivity with Great Britain is at its highest, as airlines offer flights to Manchester, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Cardiff, and Belfast, among numerous other cities in England and Scotland, as well as to Northern Ireland and Wales, through connections to four London airports. The United Kingdom’s service has been further enhanced by the establishment of Jet2’s new base in London-Luton, which has also resulted in the introduction of a new route to Bournemouth.

The Netherlands, another nationality that has become a popular destination for international tourism to the Costa Blanca, will be the next to expand its offering to 22,000 spaces.

This Easter, Germany will serve as the third market. Alicante-Elche Airport will have 19,000 seats from Germany, with 15 distinct routes operated by over four airlines to locations such as Berlin, Munich, Frankfurt, and Nuremberg, among others. With 16,000 arrival tickets each, Norway and Belgium complete the Easter offering.

Poland, in addition to the Nordic countries, has emerged as a significant and expanding market. Norwegian is currently the fourth busiest airline at the Alicante terminal and has increased its frequencies for the summer. Additionally, it has taken over abandoned routes and opened new ones.

The majority of summer connections, as well as numerous new routes that extend the winter season, will be accessible by Easter. Ryanair has recently established three new connections: to Bydgoszcz, Poland, and to Linz and Salzburg, Austria.

In a first for Alicante-Elche Airport, EasyJet expanded its Naples route and introduced flights to Athens. Norwegian also enhanced and expanded its frequency on its route to the Latvian capital, Riga.

Flights to Eastern Europe will be an additional new feature, with two unprecedented connections. Wizz Air will operate flights to the Serbian capital, Belgrade, and Sky Up, a Ukrainian airline, will connect the Costa Blanca with Chisinau, the capital of Moldova.
