The Provincial Fire Consortium say a fire was brought under control at a gym in the municipality of Albatera (Alicante) at 11:55 p.m. yesterday, Sunday April 13th. The fire had caused the building to be devastated, and a portion of the wall had even collapsed.
A call was received at 8:36 p.m. in the vicinity of Calle Juan Carlos I and Juan de Dios Pardo in the town. The firefighting teams promptly initiated efforts to extinguish the flames and prevent further spread, as the incident generated a significant amount of smoke that was visible from a distance.
Before declaring the fire extinguished and terminating the operation this morning, firefighters will conduct an inspection later today. No casualties have been reported, according to the Consortium.
A command and control unit (UMJ), 21 heavy urban fire engines (BUP), one light urban fire engine (BUL), and one heavy tanker engine (BNP), as well as a sergeant, two corporals, and eight firefighters from the Crevillent and Elche fire stations were mobilised for this occasion.
