Following an attempted robbery at Gran Canaria Airport, the National Police shot and killed a man.
Today, Saturday May 17th, around 4:50 p.m., National Police officers were forced to use their firearms after a suspect allegedly attempted a violent robbery with a knife against a cab driver near Gran Canaria Airport.
Thus, during the police intervention, the aggressor lunged at the police with the weapon, forcing them to stop the attack using their firearms.
Both the airport and the Canary Islands Health Service activated their emergency services and attempted to revive the person before confirming his death.
At present time, National Police personnel from the Judicial Police, the Forensic Police Brigade, and the Homicide Unit are on the scene, conducting the investigation. The judicial commission has also been activated, and the National Police are working to clarify the events.
