The National Police in Alicante arrested three males for breaking into a residence with the resident inside and demanding payment for a debt. Minutes after the crime, the National Police arrested the suspects as they fled the scene.
The police involvement began after a call was received at the 091 emergency department about a woman who was repeatedly crying for aid from her balcony.
Several policemen from the Citizen Security Brigade raced to the site specified by the individual who reported the event, and within minutes, officers from the National Police and Alicante Local Police arrived.
Once on the site, the officers gathered all relevant information about the occurrence, including the offenders’ personal traits and attire, as well as the characteristics of the car in which they fled the scene.
After the remainder of the police were notified of probable escape routes, National Police personnel assigned to the Mobile Brigade were seen extremely close to the crime scene. Authorities discovered a vehicle that perfectly matched the one the criminals had fled in.
The officers pursued the vehicle and stopped it a few metres away. The officers recognised the occupants and detained them for allegedly committing violent robbery in an inhabited dwelling.
The inmates were carrying a sledgehammer and a crowbar to force open the home’s door, as well as latex gloves to avoid fingerprints. However, they broke through the victim’s door and demanded payment for an unidentified debt.
Following the police investigation, the three inmates, all of whom had past police records for unrelated offences, appeared before the Alicante duty court.
Police partnership
The Provincial Police Station emphasised that, as on many previous occasions, Alicante Local Police officers assisted National Police officers in the intervention and that the work and collaboration of both police forces is critical for the proper operation of public order and citizen safety.
