A man drowned on Fuengirola beach yesterday afternoon, Wednesday May 21st, according to 1-1-2, a news service run by the Andalusian Emergency Agency, which is part of the Regional Government’s Ministry of the Presidency, Interior, Social Dialogue, and Administrative Simplification.
At 9:10 p.m., the 112 Emergency Line received the first of multiple calls reporting a person drowning in the sea near Fuengirola’s coastal promenade. According to dispatchers, the man was discovered around sixty metres from shore, struggling to get out of the sea.
The coordination centre promptly notified the Maritime Rescue Service, the Local and National Police, the Civil Guard, and the Health Emergency Centre (CES 061).
Two people were able to rescue the sufferer out of the sea and bring him to shore. Despite the deployed personnel’s efforts, nothing could be done to save his life, and he died on the beach rather than being hospitalised.
