The Almoradà City Council’s Department of Modernisation, led by Luciano MartÃnez, has issued a tender for the “Sustainable, Digital, and Integrated AlmoradÔ project. The project is worth €390,000 and is 50% supported by IVACE (Spanish Institute of Agricultural Technology).
The councillor described the idea as “part of the digitalisation plan we’ve been working on throughout the legislative term and consists of installing smart parking sensors on some of the city’s busiest streets.” We expect that once drivers arrive in the municipality, they will know where to park, beginning with a pilot test on two streets.”
MartÃnez claimed that this project will include people-counting devices, which will be positioned in the Plaza de la Constitución and the main commercial pedestrian routes to evaluate future difficulties connected to the flow of people in certain places or events.
The first deputy mayor stressed the importance of implementing speed cameras and smart pedestrian crossing lights on the municipality’s busiest streets to improve road safety and reduce accidents.
Luciano MartÃnez emphasises that the government is committed to investing in security and traffic cameras by adding 21 devices to the existing 60. This includes monitoring and pursuing any uncivilised behaviour on the streets.
According to Mayor Mara Gómez, “this is a project that supports sustainable urban mobility and safety in the fullest sense of the word, working at street level and through new technologies within this digitalisation plan, which we have committed to providing more useful tools to make our residents’ lives easier.”
The mayor announced the launch of a new webpage named ‘Almoradà Conecta’, where locals may purchase or reserve tickets for council-organised events like seminars, tours, and shows. In addition, we are working on updating the municipal website to make it more modern, accessible, dynamic, and intuitive, as well as developing a new incident management system that is available to all users.”
The City Council has stated that in terms of modernisation, they are working on the Remote Management of Public Lighting, a technology that manages and regulates lighting output, resulting in lower electricity bills. They are also working on administrative tools like the Citizen Folder and the Document Manager, which will expedite operations between citizens and the City Council.
In brief, and according to the mayor’s remarks, “We are implementing a series of projects and investments aimed at improving, through modernisation, vital issues such as sustainability, security, and access to local government.”
