The Santa Pola Local Police Department fined a person for leaving belongings on public highways without first seeking collection from the municipal agency. The incident happened last Sunday on Avenida Escandinavia in Gran Alacant, when a man left a little table with drawers close to some containers.
Officers spotted the act and issued a 751 euro punishment in compliance with the municipal ordinance on citizen coexistence. If payment is made within the voluntary time, the punishment is reduced by 50%, to 375.50 euros.
The Santa Pola City Council advises citizens that they must inform Urbaser, the rubbish collection service provider, before placing furniture or possessions on public streets. This approach is free of charge and avoids situations that harm the municipality’s image and create inconvenience to citizens.
