National Police officers have arrested ten people of Spanish and Venezuelan nationality suspected of being responsible for the cultivation and operation of a large indoor marijuana plantation containing nearly 500 plants.
One of the investigations carried out by National Police officers into the cultivation and sale of narcotic substances led them to warehouses located in an industrial estate in the Murcia district of Puente Tocinos, where a large marijuana plantation may be underway.
After confirming the illegal activity, the warehouse and an adjacent one that had been previously dismantled were entered and searched, which led to the seizure of 476 marijuana plants in different stages of growth, 188 flowerpots, and numerous electrical materials used for this type of plantation, such as transformers, air conditioning units, LED lamps, and extractors.
The criminal group members adopted certain security measures to avoid detection of the marijuana plantation, including the use of sophisticated organic odour extraction systems and a security camera system to monitor the exterior and interior areas.
At the time of the arrest, one of the members of the criminal group fled in a van, ignoring the officers’ instructions to stop and attempting to ram them several times, but they finally managed to arrest him.
Furthermore, the investigation revealed the existence of a professional gardener responsible for ensuring that the plantations reached their optimal state of ripeness for harvesting at different stages of the year.
The detainees are charged with drug trafficking, membership in a criminal group, electrical fraud, and resisting and attacking a law enforcement officer after attempting to flee and ramming a van into police officers on several occasions.
