Hundreds of cars struggle every day to find parking in Elche, particularly in residential neighbourhoods or near their workplaces. Parkiduo, an Elche-based startup backed by the Miguel Hernández University (UMH) Science Park, has unveiled a new version of its platform for sharing parking spaces by time slot, which is now active in Elche, Alicante, and Valencia.
The simple and user-friendly service connects those who aren’t using their garages at certain hours with others who require space in a specific area. In this manner, owners make extra money while still using their space, while vehicles have access to more cost-effective and environmentally friendly alternatives to standard parking.
How Parkiduo Works
The user can register as a Driver (searching for a spot) or a Parker (providing their spot). The system matches users based on their availability, geography, and vehicle type. The system writes a legally enforceable digital contract that outlines all the details of the arrangement, provided both parties agree.
Furthermore, the software accounts for certain unforeseen events by providing entry and exit margins as well as alerts to prevent misunderstandings.
A model that emphasises responsible urban mobility
Parkiduo emphasises that this approach benefits both customers and the city: it decreases traffic by looking for parking, cuts polluting emissions, and makes use of existing infrastructure without requiring new construction.
The collaborative economy concept, which optimises urban resources, just secured a €45,000 investment from BANC, Technetium, and other partners, accelerating the platform’s development and expansion.
Parkiduo’s motto, “My square is your square,” is a step forward in making Elche a more sustainable, connected, and efficient city.
