As part of a joint operation between the National and Local Police against industrial and intellectual property, a 43-year-old man was arrested in Elche after more than a thousand products were seized that violated the registrations and patents of various well-known trademarks.
The incident was reported to the National Police when local police officers conducted a normal check of an industrial facility belonging to a goods transportation company in Elche. Numerous crates containing alleged counterfeit luxury brand items were discovered.
As a result, National Police officers responded to the area and seized 19 boxes containing 1,168 products, the majority of which were handbags and purses copying items from registered and well-known brands.
Agents conducted various investigative operations, identifying, apprehending, and arresting the product’s recipient for suspected industrial and intellectual property violations.
The police concluded their investigation and referred the case to the Elche Court of First Instance.
The inquiry is ongoing, with the goal of discovering the legal representatives of the impacted brands and determining the origin of the counterfeit items.
