Orihuela City Council has issued a tender for organising LGBTQ+ Pride Day in 2025 and 2026. The contract has a maximum budget of €16,405.12 (VAT included) and comprises a single annual event in June.
The contract’s aim, according to the technical requirements issued by the Department of Social Welfare, is to increase institutional commitment to human rights defence and social inclusion for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, and other LGBTQ+ individuals. It also aims to make these truths visible from a cross-cutting, fun, and aggressive stance.
Complete event with batucada, DJ, entertainment, and awareness programmes
The event must comprise, at a minimum, the planning, organisation, and development of all events, including:
- A protest batucada consists of at least 20 musicians.
- Stilt-walkers provide entertainment throughout the parade and until the musical act begins.
- Sound equipment, professional lighting, and a DJ will equip the stage from 9:00 p.m. to closing time.
- Rainbow-coloured flags and banners provide visual assistance.
- Electrical panel installation, technical installation, and supplementary services such as an information tent, accessible portable toilet, and fireworks display.
The successful bidder will be responsible for all technical and logistical arrangements, including hiring the necessary personnel, processing licenses, obtaining civil liability insurance for a minimum of €500,000, and submitting technical reports and safety certifications prior to the event.
Budget and execution conditions
The contract specifies a financial endowment of €8,202.56 for each year of execution (2025 and 2026), including VAT. It requires the selected bidder to attend follow-up meetings with the City Council’s technical team, submit a detailed timeline, and verify compliance with all legal and safety regulations.
With this initiative, Orihuela City Council demonstrates its dedication to inclusion, visibility, and equal rights for everyone, cementing Pride Day’s status as a major event on the municipality’s cultural and social calendar.
